Century House: Innkeeperette Memories

Century House Innkeeperette Memories

Last evening, Innkeeper Gerry and I attended an event held by MGH, presenting its Campaign for the THIRD CENTURY of MGH Medicine, new initiatives and reflecting on its outreach to so many communities of which the affiliation with Nantucket Cottage Hospital is a miracle for Gerry and me. Why you may ask?? … March 10, 1999 will stand out in my mind forever …on this day. Gerry suffered a heart attack on Nantucket Island, rushed to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital and immediately helicoptered to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), diverting a chopper headed to Martha’s Vineyard on a non emergent mission; within 1 hour Gerry was on the operating table…. The rest is history; Gerry survived and now thrives in his daily activities. The affiliation with this prestigious teaching and research hospital, the immediacy of getting from Island to Boston MGH Helicopter Pad and surgical care definitely saved Gerry’s life. A treasured memory of gratitude. How blest we are!
